This book features the results of a study of the syntax of the Malay language in Sulalatus Salatin, three short stories of Sasterawan Negara Keris Mas, and The Last Days of a Artist by Sasterawan Negara Dato’ Dr. Anwar Ridhwan. This book presents evidence that there is a continuity of language from the point of view of sentence construction in two eras, the classic and the modern era. Although the style seems different, the basis of the creation of verses in classic Malay literary works and Malay literary works remains the same, which is a set of formulas or the same syntactic rules. It is found that literary works that obey grammar can still reach a high level of quality. Hopefully this book can add to the wealth of scientific literature in the Malay language.
