The Liew Story: From Failure to Flight

Liew Yew Fah, now a retired businessman, has over 25 years of experience in the food logistics industry. In his younger days, he was exposed to the food industry through his family’s business, but chose to move out of that line of business and become an engineer instead. After obtaining his German Craftsmanship in Machine tool Engineering in Germany in 1978, sponsored by EDB (Economic Development Board), he began working at SKF Manufacturing in Singapore as a technician.

Yew Fah loved the innovative landscape that the engineering field offered. In 1983, he moved to East Machinery Pte Ltd, where started as a Technical Sales Executive and later became the General Manager of their Hong Kong subsidiary. From East Machinery, Yew Fah moved to Spanish conglomerate Fagor’s Hong Kong office and later help set up their Taiwan branch in 1992.

But life as they say, often has other plans for us. Yew Fah found himself facing the food industry again when his wife’s brother’s company required his help. In 1996, Yew Fah and his family moved back to Singapore, where he joined Pin Corporation Pte Ltd as a General Manager cum Director. He was then appointed the Managing Director in 2002. Through his hard work, he was awarded the “Special Mentioned Award” under The Entrepreneur of the Year 2006. Pin Corporation eventually expanded and Yew Fah set up Mandai Link Logistics Pte Ltd.

In 2022, after going through all sorts of ups and downs in his career and business life, Yew Fah decided to sell the company and retire. This book is a compilation of his life experiences and the lessons he has learned.
