Treating childhood and adolescent anxiety: a guide for caregivers Ebook
There are many books on childhood anxiety for both the professional and lay audience. Most echo each other very closely and offer sound advice. They counsel implementing the strategies that have been developed as part of cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety, namely 1) gradual exposure to the feared situation, 2) learning to combat anxious thoughts with alternative ideas, and 3) practicing relaxation as a tool for lessening the experience of anxiety. Yet some aspects of treating childhood anxiety have been overlooked despite often being critical to successfully implementing these techniques: 1. The special role of parents for childhood anxiety. 2. Not all children want treatment. 3. Parents dont always collaborate with each other. This book addresses those critical aspects for achieving success with anxious children.
