MARK KARLEN, PhD, AIA, ASID, NCIDQ, is an Architect specializing in lighting design, sturctures, HVAC, and acoutics. He acts as an ASID/STEP Workshop Leader, preparing interior designers for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) examination. He currently serves as adjunct professor of interior architecture at Philadelphia University. He previously chaired the Interior Design programs at the University of Cincinnati, Moore College of Art and Design, served as Dean at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and most recently chaired both undergraduate and graduate Interior Design programs at Pratt Institute in New York. CHRISTINA SPANGLER, LC, IES, Senior LIghting Design at BEAM, ltd. has over 16 years of experience in the architectural lighting profession, designing for hospitality, academic, and reseidential environments. She is currently adjunct professor at Phyiladelphia University, teaching lighting design. She won the 2015 Philament award from IES Philadelphia.
